Kim Wraps It Up

Hey There: It was a MUCH better day today. The route was pretty easy to walk, and the weather cooperated much of the day, but was a bit wet at times. It was a very emotional day as this journey came to an end. It is incredible to see all of the walkers, all sizes, shapes and speeds. The event crew of volunteers was FANTASTIC, from people directing us along the route, serving food & drinks, medical helpers and especially law enforcement that made sure we were all safe and sound and could keep our feet moving as much as possible. There was even a crew from the San Jose Police Department that volunteered to come down and help out. They have been doing it for several years and are really an asset to the event, very enthusiastic and a ton of fun in their tu tus, with their music and friendly encouragement.

It is amazing to see all the people lined up along the route cheering everyone on and handing out all sorts of goodies and mementos to the walkers. It is incredible and motivating. One of the people I was walking for was in the crowd, and I missed her, sorry Coral ! Many of you have kept me in your thoughts and prayers and I really appreciate all the support.

The closing ceremony was very moving and emotional and another year is ahead to find a cure for this disease. The Komen Foundation vows to find one and the sooner the better.

For all the survivors, and for the people I walked in memory of, it wasnt' soon enough. But hopefully SOON so future generations won't have to deal with this in the near future.

Again, many thanks and for now, Kimberley
